Subject: DC-Area Benefit for Direct Access to Reproductive Rights.

Hey, everyone.

The murder of Dr. George Tiller, this weekend, in Wichita, Kansas,
underlines the fragility of reproductive rights in this country. As
I'm sure you know, these events are not isolated to the midwest or the
deep south. This fight also takes place, right here, in the DC area.

Many people close to me work with a group called the Washington Area
Clinic Defense Task Force (http://www.wacdtf.org/). They are a
non-violent group that provides sidewalk escorts to local clinics so
that patients can receive medical treatment - including abortions, but
also health screenings, contraception, and any number of other OB/GYN
services - with minimal interference from those who seek to literally,
physically block their access to medical care.

I would like to organize an event to raise awareness of and a direct
response to the very real threat to patients, clinic staff, and
doctors from fundamentalists, right here, in our community. What I am
picturing would be a concert of DC-area noise musicians - why I am
writing to you, right now - that would solicit money and volunteers
for WACDTF.

I would like to gauge support and potential involvement as well as
solicit suggestions for a venue. Any help in making this happen is
appreciated. And, no matter what, thank you for your time.
